“Where is everyone going? I must find out so I can lead them!”

The toughest thing to do in business is to stay focused. I am a big proponent of having a mission statement and a vision statement to guide you. There will be times when an interesting business opportunity arises and you’ll need the vision you started with to guide you.

It is easy to chase the next big thing. It is easy to see a new business idea and convince yourself that it fits your model. But the truth is that more ofteb then not, changing your direction and changing your focus is an awful idea. If the new thing is so great, then shift your core to that model. But don’t dpread yourself thin across a bunch of ideas hoping one will pay off.

To succeed in business you need relentless focus on doing one thing really well. Focus. Then focus some more.
